Several years ago, a handful of Titus 2 women wanted to come up with an image to encourage each other and also to encourage some younger moms we were mentoring. Malachi 2:6 caught our attention. We particularly liked the wording from The Message: “(He) kept many out of the ditch, kept them on the road.” We asked Pete to take a photo to remind us of this passage. The passage became our slogan. Eugene Peterson states in his devotional Solo, “You are the ones chosen by God, chosen for the high calling of priestly work, chosen to be a holy people, God’s instruments to do his work and speak out for him, to tell others of the night-and-day difference he made for you–from nothing to something, from rejected to accepted.” (1 Peter 2:9-10) Do you agree or disagree? What an exciting and comforting thought–we help ourselves, our friends, and others stay out of the ditch as we teach the next generation to do the same. Questions to ponder: What is your current “ditch”? Do you have someone who will help keep you out of that “ditch”? Are you helping someone else stay out of their “ditch”? We are designed to help each other. Are we heeding our call?
